ABOUT JAMES
James Hillman is a luxury fashion consultancy based in London. Twenty years across menswear, womenswear, swim, sportswear, leather, shoes, accessories and technical apparel. Fourteen years as a consultancy.
James trained at Kingston University and Central Saint Martins. In 2009 he won the Mittelmoda Levi's Award for sustainable clothing — judged that year by Elio Fiorucci, who went on to mentor him in Milan. He also worked for Balmain in Paris, BCBG and Manoukian in the South of France, and Korean designer Moon Young Hee. He has since shown his namesake collections at London Fashion Week and opened Amsterdam Fashion Week.
The consultancy was founded in 2012. The work spans concept and brand direction, design and development, sourcing and production — end to end, with a senior point of view on every decision.
We're a small team by design. James leads the work. Trusted collaborators — sample makers, pattern cutters, photographers, factory contacts — come in as projects need them. Capacity without the overhead of an in-house team.
Clients include Casa Marané, LUCA, Kozha, Varden Club, ME+EM, A Perfect Nomad, Bróg, NEATA, Deborah Henning, Pacifism, Life of Ease, and The Uniform Studio. The biggest names are under NDA.
Casa Marané has been a ten-year working relationship across swim, linen, resort wear, womenswear, accessories and home. The Uniform Studio — twelve years working on uniforms for some of the world's leading hotels, restaurants and hospitality groups.
